Arsenal fans have all jumped to the same conclusion after Max Dowman made his Premier League debut for the Gunners during their 5-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday. Mikel Arteta’s men returned to the top of the table with the drubbing of the newly promoted Yorkshire outfit thanks to goals from Jurrien Timber, Bukayo Saka and Viktor Gyokeres
As soon as the wonderkid got on the ball, he was an immediate threat for Leeds full-back Gabriel Gudmundsson. Dowman had the third-highest number of touches inside the penalty area of all players despite playing just over 30 minutes, and that fact proved to make a major difference with his biggest contribution on the game.
The number 56 was brought down in the penalty area by Anton Stach, who clipped the toe of the youngster as he glided his way into the penalty area. Referee Jarred Gillett had no hesitation in pointing to the spot, allowing Gyokeres to fire home his second from 12 yards and give Dowman a debut assist (at least according to Fantasy Premier League rules).
And while it may seem rather innocuous that Dowman managed to pick up a penalty, fans have noticed that this is actually a theme from him in his fleeting Arsenal appearances thus far.
