Man United boss Ruben Amorim has played down concerns about Luke Shaw’s fitness after he was substituted during the 4-2 win over Brighton at the weekend.
The 30-year-old was replaced just after the hour mark, with Ayden Heaven coming on for the final 25 minutes. However, speaking about Shaw in his post-match press conference, Amorim said the defender was simply suffering with an illness:
Luke Shaw is fine. He had a virus during the week. He struggled a little bit in the game, but he’s going to be ready for the next one.”
Amorim’s remarks confirm that Shaw won’t be ruled out for any upcoming fixtures.

Harry Maguire
The centre-back was not named in the matchday squad for the Brighton match after picking up a knock.
Amorim claims that Maguire was left out as a precaution and he doesn’t expect the defender to be on the sidelines for a lengthy period:
“He’s not available for this one [the Brighton fixture]. Hopefully, he’s going to join us next week, but we’ll see.”
“I hope to have him next week. It’s a simple thing, but you never know. And I don’t like to take risks with players.”

Lisandro Martinez
The Argentinian international is still building up his fitness in individual training as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury.
Some were expecting Martinez to return to full team training sessions last week, but Amorim won’t give a timescale on when that will happen at the moment.
He claims the centre-back will only return when he’s ready, and they are not rushing his comeback.
Martinez has not played since being stretchered off during a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace in early February.
