‘He’s a very good player’: Gabriel Martinelli seriously impressed by Tottenham star; says everyone loves him
Gabriel Martinelli has told Sky Sports that Richarlison is a really good player and suggested that everyone in the Brazil squad loves the Tottenham Hotspur star.
Of course, Martinelli and Richarlison find themselves on opposite sides in North London. Martinelli is part of the Arsenal team which has flown to the top of the Premier League table.
Richarlison meanwhile, joined Spurs in the summer. And he has proved himself to be one of the most versatile forwards in the division.
Martinelli praises Richarlison
The pair were both named in Tite’s squad for the upcoming World Cup. And ahead of the tournament, Martinelli was asked about a number of his international teammates.
Richarlison was the first name picked out. And while that may have been a potentially awkward situation for Martinelli to be in, the Arsenal forward made no secret of his admiration for the Spurs star.
“Everyone knows that he’s a very good player,” he told Sky Sports. “I was in the Olympic Games with him. He was very important for us to win it. Yeah he’s a very good player. Everyone knows that.
“And off the pitch, he’s a very good guy as well. So funny, always joking around. And everyone in the team loves him as well.”
Brazil are one of the sides who many will be tipping to potentially go all the way in Qatar. Obviously, they are a country always looking to be in the mix in major tournaments.
The last World Cup proved to be an underwhelming occasion for Selecao. They were knocked out in the quarter-final and rarely looked like a side to watch out for.
There are a number of players now heading for their first World Cup. Martinelli and Richarlison are two of those. Only three players across the midfield and attack have more than 50 caps for Brazil.
This tournament may still come a little soon for Brazil. But given the quality they have, there is absolutely no question that they have an amazingly bright future coming up.
