West Ham United were cruelly denied all three points against Manchester United at London Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Tomas Soucek opened the scoring for West Ham, latching onto Jarrod Bowen’s low cross and finishing past Senne Lammens.
The Hammers defended with all they had, keeping Michael Carrick’s side at bay right up until second-half stoppage time.
However, substitute Benjamin Sesko stepped up to deliver the killer blow with less than two minutes remaining, finishing superbly into the top corner.
The 1-1 draw leaves Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the Premier League relegation zone, two points adrift of Nottingham Forest in 17th.
Casemiro goal ruled out vs Man United
Before Sesko fired home the equaliser, Man United thought they had found a way back into the game through Casemiro.
The Brazilian midfielder ghosted into the box and headed Kobbie Mainoo’s cross past Mads Hermansen in the West Ham goal.
Casemiro only half-heartedly celebrated, worried that VAR would rule it out for offside, and his fears were soon confirmed.

Craig Pawson recommended that the goal should be chalked off, the former Real Madrid man inches ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and in an offside position.
It was only a temporary reprieve for the East London outfit, though, with Sesko eventually making the breakthrough in the dying seconds.
Premier League release statement during West Ham vs Man United
It was an extremely tight offside call, and another one that took VAR a good few minutes to conclude their check.
However, they did eventually rule the goal out, and the Premier League confirmed the reasoning behind the decision on X.
The Premier League Match Centre account’s statement reads: “VAR checked the referee’s call of goal – and established that Casemiro was in an offside position and recommended that the goal was disallowed.”
Despite conceding a late equaliser, VAR’s intervention ensured that the Hammers have at least added one more point to their overall tally in the race for survival.
West Ham ace Tomas Soucek made history in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Tuesday.
Soucek became the leading Czech goalscorer in the Premier League with his strike at the London Stadium on 11 February.
The Hammers star was level with former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Portsmouth icon Patrik Berger, but his 39 goals put him alone at the top.
The 30-year-old has featured in 217 matches in the English top-flight, but his latest appearance may well be the most historic.
