THE Premier League’s Key Match Incidents Panel has ruled the referee and VAR were right not to give Manchester United’s Amad Diallo a penalty in last month’s stalemate with Bournemouth.
The Red Devils were forced to settle for a point after being pegged back twice in a 2-2 draw on the south coast.

But United were fuming when ref Stuart Attwell waved away appeals for a second penalty after Amad appeared to be pulled back by Adrien Truffert.
To compound matters for Michael Carrick’s side, Bournemouth went straight down the other end and cancelled out Bruno Fernandes’ opener through Ryan Christie.
Truffert’s challenge was checked and cleared by VAR Craig Pawson, who decided a clear and obvious error was not made by Attwell.
And the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents Panel was split with a 3-2 vote against a spot-kick being awarded.
It was decided that “whilst Truffert runs a risk, the contact made was not impactful and therefore below the high threshold for a foul”.
But two panellists disagreed, claiming the action was “non-footballing and a penalty should have been awarded”.
The decision of Pawson not to intervene was unanimously backed, with the panel stating it was “in keeping with the high threshold for VAR overturns”.
United had already been gifted a penalty by Bournemouth right-back Alex Jimenez earlier in the second half, after dragging back Matheus Cunha in a moment of madness.
But Carrick could not understand how his side had been denied the chance to double their lead from the spot.
He said: “My first [thought] is he definitely got one of them wrong, because he’s given one penalty for the same thing that he’s not given as a two-armed grab.

“So the Matheus one, he gives, the second one on Amad he doesn’t. Which is, I think, almost identical, really.
“Two hands on someone in the box, and they go over and they’re in control of the ball.
“For me, it’s two penalties. But it’d be interesting to see which one he acknowledges is wrong, whether the one we got or the one that we didn’t get.
“To give one and not give the other, I can’t get my head around it, I think it’s crazy.
“And it’s a huge moment. You don’t give it, they go down to the other end and score.
“And then it needs to be a bigger penalty to overturn just because they scored when actually it’s a penalty and it should be a penalty if you’ve already given one.
“So a bit baffling, really, to make sense of that. I haven’t spoken to [the ref]. Once it’s done, it’s done.”
Although Christie cancelled out Fernandes’ earlier penalty, a James Hill own goal restored United’s lead at the Vitality Stadium.
But Eli Junior Kroupi snatched a share of the spoils for Bournemouth after Harry Maguire gave away a spot-kick and was sent off.
