BREAKING NEWS: Michael Carrick was the reason we lost this match. Why did he start such player? We have lost all the games he started this season.”: Man United legend Wayne Rooney names ONE Man United player who was the reason the club lost to Leed United at home last night

Wayne Rooney has revealed the biggest mistake Carrick made during their lost to Leed United at home yesterday

Manchester United slipped to a 2-1 loss at the hands of Leeds United. Here are our player ratings from the game.

(A score of 6 is around average)

Senne Lammens 5 – Good save at the start to deny Dominic Calvert-Lewin what looked like a certain goal. Otherwise, well and truly beaten for both goals and his bad pass to an under-pressure Leny Yoro almost resulted in a third Leeds goal.

Noussair Mazraoui 3 – Uncomfortable all game. Sloppy in possession, unable to keep up with his man and offered very little, if anything, in attack.

Leny Yoro 1 – Nightmare showing. Bullied by Calvert-Lewin, struggled badly on the ball, and repeatedly gave possession away carelessly. To make matters worse, he lost his marker on a couple of set-piece situations.

Lisandro Martínez 2 – Pulled off a brilliant last-man challenge to keep United alive, but then threw it all away with a foolish foul on Calvert-Lewin. He got sent off, and United, already two goals down, had to play the rest of the contest with ten men.

Luke Shaw 3 – A few over-the-top balls but that was just about it from the England international.

Casemiro 7 – Thumping headed finish to halve the deficit and give United some hope of mounting a comeback.

Manuel Ugarte 1 – Lost the ball in the early stages, sparking a dangerous Leeds attack. Failed to stop the cross for the visitors ‘ first goal. Just offered next to nothing in possession, often going for the safe pass backwards or sideways pass. No sign of the solidity or grit in midfield that are meant to be his strongest qualities.

Bruno Fernandes 6 – Tough day at the office but still contributed a fine assist for Casemiro’s goal. His 17th of the campaign.

Amad 4 – United’s primary source of threat in the first half, but faded as the game progressed and he never recovered until he was taken off.

Matheus Cunha 5 – Much like Amad, he showed flashes of positivity and tested Karl Darlow a few times, but ultimately ended the game frustrated. Pulled his weight defensively in the second half after Martinez’s sending-off.

Benjamin Sesko 4 – Came dangerously close to drawing United level but was thwarted by a brilliant Darlow save. Didn’t have much to pounce on.

Substitutes
Diogo Dalot 5 – Decent

Bryan Mbeumo 5 – He offered a positive spark from the bench, trying to drive at the opposition and alter the course of the game, but in the end he couldn’t be the difference-maker.
