‘We’ll see a bid soon’: Arsenal are about to make an official offer to sign ‘unstoppable’ player – journalist
Arsenal have long been linked with a move to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk, and the Gunners now look set to table an official bid to bring him in.
That’s according to football journalist Dean Jones, who has revealed that Mikel Arteta and Edu will ‘soon’ make their move to sign the Ukrainian, who has been branded as an ‘unstoppable’ player.
Journalist says Arsenal will table a bid to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk soon
Mudryk has been a star for Shakhtar this season.
The 21-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists for the Ukrainian champions, including five direct goal contributions in the Champions League.
Mudryk is a terrific young talent, and it’s almost certain that he’ll leave Shakhtar in 2023. David Ornstein revealed that the Ukraine international is Arsenal’s ‘priority’ target in the January transfer window, and Jones has backed that claim.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I know the avenues of getting this done are already very open, so I think we’ll see a bid soon, to be honest.
“I think Arsenal will go ahead with this and try to get it done if it’s absolutely everything they are aiming for and a player of this type.”
Shakhtar have publicly claimed that they value Mudryk at £86 million (The Athletic).
Our View:
It is no secret at this point that Arsenal would love to sign Mudryk.
The Gunners are quite short in wide areas at the moment. Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are Arteta’s first-choice wingers, but their backups aren’t quite on the same level.
Reiss Nelson and Marquinhos are both good players, but they cannot produce what Saka and Martinelli do every week. Fabio Vieira has done well out on the right flank, but he’s naturally a number 10. Emile Smith Rowe, on the other hand, is a solid option on the left wing, but he’s still injured.
Arsenal need a new winger in January, which makes a bid for someone like Mudryk a very smart move.
