Premier League side chasing ‘fantastic’ Arsenal player, he wants to leave – big Blow for Arteta

According to Sky Sports, Fulham are launching further inquiries about the availability of Arsenal’s Cedric Soares.

The Whites are in the market for a new right-back at the moment after Kevin Mbabu’s torrid start to life in west London.

Mbabu has barely played for Fulham since joining this summer from Wolfsburg, and he even appears to be behind Bobby Decordova-Reid in the pecking order at Craven Cottage.

Sadly, Decordova-Reid may be needed higher-up the pitch going into the second half of the season after Neeskens Kebano was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with a ruptured Achilles.

Therefore, Fulham need a right-back, and that’s where Cedric comes into the equation.

Marco Silva’s side did ask about the Portuguese defender in the summer, but, in the end, nothing came of those inquiries.

The 31-year-old would be a very handy addition to this Fulham side. He can play on both the right and the left side of the defence, and he’d be arriving with bags of experience at this level.

Described as ‘fantastic’ in the past, Cedric may be just what the doctor ordered at Fulham as they try to pad out their squad and continue to compete in the Premier League.

As for whether Arsenal will sanction this deal. It was reported earlier this month that Cedric does in fact want to leave the Emirates after playing just two games so far this season, while the presence of both Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White as right-back options does severely limit his chances of breaking back into the Arsenal XI.

Arsenal, of course, did business with Fulham this summer on a deal that saw Bernd Leno move to the newly-promoted side, so relations should be good between these two parties.

A move across London may be Cedric’s best course of action right now.
