BREAKING NEWS: “I’m happy that we have agreed the terms to sign him, he has been the best player in this world cup”: Alex Ferguson hails Man United latest signing who’s currently the best player in the world cup.
Alex Ferguson loves the player Man United has agreed to sign.
Manchester United enjoyed a remarkable turnaround under Michael Carrick last season, comfortably securing Champions League football.
Last summer, the Red Devils managed to beat several Champions League clubs to the signatures of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.
After a third-place finish in the Premier League, United are in as strong a position as ever this summer, with some of the most sought-after midfielders willing to be part of Carrick’s rebuild.
Aurelien Tchouameni would like to join Manchester United
Recently, a report in The Athletic claimed that Real Madrid would consider offers for Aurelien Tchouameni this summer, as a departure in midfield is seen as necessary to make room for Jose Mourinho’s preferred profile.
Now, The Athletic journalist Andy Mitten has shed more light on the situation in the Spanish capital.
In the latest episode of Talk of the Devils: The Athletic FC’s Manchester United show podcast, Mitten claimed Manchester United have liked the World Cup finalist for a long time. He underlined that the Frenchman is “one of the best players in his position”.
Mitten went on to reveal that although the Champions League winner is happy at Real Madrid, he would “like to play for Manchester United” should the situation change.
In that regard, Mourinho is going to have a big say on Tchouameni‘s future. It is understood the Portuguese tactician wants to bring in a creative midfielder, potentially opening the door for the 26-year-old France international to depart.
Mateus Fernandes wants Manchester United transfer
United are also thought to be keen on signing West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes.
Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as United’s biggest rivals in the race for the Portuguese gem, having shown intention to meet West Ham’s exorbitant demands.
However, United remain the frontrunners for Fernandes, largely due to the 21-year-old’s preference to move to Old Trafford.
According to Mitten, Fernandes would accept a switch to Tottenham if they strike an agreement with West Ham, but he would prefer to join United.
