Arsenal are determined to complete the biggest transfer in their history.

The Premier League champions are considering signing Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior this summer.

According to BBC Sport, manager Mikel Arteta has become so smitten with the notion of signing Vinicius that he is viewed internally as the club’s number one target.

It was also revealed yesterday that the Gunners are prepared to offer Vinicius the biggest contract in their history to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.

Vinicius has entered the final year of his contract and currently earns a staggering £400,000 per week.

Arsenal will have to offer improved terms to recruit him.

Arteta is desperate to add an elite left winger to his squad.

Leandro Trossard has left the club and there are big question marks over the future of Gabriel Martinelli.

Christos Tzolis has already joined the North London outfit from Club Brugge but he is expected to be a squad player.

A player like Vinicius could completely change the dynamics at Arsenal.

He bagged 22 goals and 14 assists in 53 games across all competitions last season.

The Brazil star scored four goals and recorded one assist in five appearances at the FIFA World Cup.

Real Madrid are set to reopen contract negotiations with the 26-year-old this week.

The La Liga giants do not want him to leave, even if they sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig.

Signing him is still a long shot but the Gunners appear prepared to pounce on any opportunity.
