£78m highly rated superstar Arsenal are desperate to sign now made Chelsea’s priority in January – huge blow for Gunners
Chelsea have reportedly made Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic their new priority for the January transfer window, with Arsenal being heavily linked with signing the Serbian international in recent weeks.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Blues have made the Serbian international their main striking target for next month, with Graham Potter eager to find a replacement for Armando Broja as well as a player who can lead the line before Christopher Nkunku joins the club in the summer.
As per the report, Juventus value Vlahovic at €90m (£78m) as the Old Lady are already tempted to cash in one the centre-forward just one year after signing the 22-year-old from ACF Fiorentina, with Chelsea and Arsenal both interested in the youngster.
CalcioMercato have recently reported that the striker is a top target for Arsenal who Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign, with the Basque manager also in need of an injury replacement following news earlier this month that Gabriel Jesus will be out on the treatment table until March at the latest.
Indeed, Arsenal were heavily linked with Vlahovic last January as the Gunners battled with Juventus to sign the Serbian superstar. And the north London side are seemingly back at it again, with Chelsea this time their opponents for the forward.
Unlike last January, though, Arsenal fans won’t be too worried if Arteta once again misses out on Vlahovic, with Jesus’ injury only lasting for a few months and the Gunners likely to spend on other areas of the squad that are in need of more depth, namely central midfield and the wide positions.

It feels like a lifetime ago when Vlahovic was the name on every Arsenal fan’s lips, with the Serie A wonder the hottest striker in Europe and seemingly destined to solve the Gunners’ striking problems. Fast-forward to now, and whilst a world-class attacker would be great in January, Chelsea landing the forward is hardly a crisis.
After all, Arteta has established that this January will be used to flesh out the squad with quality depth, and whilst Jesus’ injury is a massive blow, the Gunners could manage with Eddie Nketiah or Gabriel Martinelli leading the line for a few months.
