Arsenal have been handed a possible boost ahead of their important Premier League encounter against Liverpool, with Noni Madueke hoping to recover in time to feature at Anfield today.

The England international has been dealing with an ankle problem that forced him to miss Arsenal’s Carabao Cup defeat against Fleetwood Town. However, there is still hope that the winger could be available for selection if he successfully passes his final fitness assessment.

Mikel Arteta will be desperate to have as many attacking options as possible for such an important fixture. Arsenal travel to Anfield knowing that Liverpool will provide a difficult challenge, and Madueke’s potential return could give the manager another option in the attacking department.

The former Chelsea winger has impressed with his ability to take on defenders, create opportunities and provide attacking energy. His pace and direct approach could be particularly useful against a Liverpool side that will look to put Arsenal’s defence under pressure.

Madueke’s situation is especially important because Arsenal are already dealing with several attacking absences. Bukayo Saka remains unavailable because of a quad injury, while teenage winger Max Dowman is suspended following his red card against Fleetwood.

Having Madueke available would therefore give Arteta additional flexibility when deciding how to organise his forward line.

However, the Arsenal manager has refused to guarantee the winger’s participation. Speaking ahead of the Liverpool match, Arteta explained that the club needed to assess Madueke during training before making a final decision.

The manager indicated that completing a full training session would be an important factor in determining whether the player could travel and be considered for selection.

This means Arsenal supporters will have to wait for confirmation rather than assume that Madueke is already fully fit.

If cleared to play, the winger could become an important part of Arsenal’s attacking plans. His ability to beat opponents in one-on-one situations could help the Gunners create space and trouble Liverpool’s defensive structure.

Madueke also offers something different from other attacking options available to Arteta. He is comfortable receiving the ball wide, driving towards defenders and attempting to create chances through individual skill.

Against a strong opponent such as Liverpool, those qualities could make a difference, particularly if Arsenal struggle to find spaces through the middle.

The match is also important for Arsenal’s ambitions in the Premier League. A positive result at Anfield would strengthen their position in the title race and provide another statement of their ability to compete against the strongest teams.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will be determined to take advantage of playing at home. Arsenal must therefore be prepared for an intense contest from the opening minutes.

Arteta will not want to take unnecessary risks with Madueke’s fitness, especially with important fixtures still to come. If the medical team believes he is not ready, the manager may decide to leave him out rather than risk aggravating the ankle problem.

Nevertheless, there is hope that the winger could make himself available if his recovery progresses sufficiently.

For Arsenal supporters, Madueke’s potential involvement would be welcome news at a time when the team needs attacking depth.

The final decision will depend on his fitness assessment, but his return would give Arteta another valuable option as Arsenal prepare for one of their biggest tests of the season.
