‘Not Gabriel Martinelli’: PSG are now talking to another ‘unbelievable’ Arsenal player’s agent, they want him in 2023
According to French outlet Media Foot, Paris Saint-Germain are in contact with Arsenal star William Saliba‘s representatives over a move in 2023.
The 21-year-old joined the Gunners from Saint-Etienne all the way back in 2019, but he only made his Arsenal debut in the first game of this season. He has been magnificent for Mikel Arteta’s side, and it looks like his performances have turned heads at PSG now.
PSG enter transfer talks with Arsenal star William Saliba’s agent
One of Arsenal’s priorities in the coming weeks and months is to extend Saliba’s contract.
The Frenchman is still on the same deal he signed back in 2019. He will enter the final 18 months of his contract next week, and that makes him an attractive option for numerous top clubs in world football.
French giants PSG are apparently one of them, and the report claims that the Parisiens have been in contact with Saliba’s representatives over a transfer at the end of this season.
It has been claimed that PSG’s transfer chief Luis Campos has the Arsenal man in his sights and Saliba’s name is ‘very present behind the scenes’ at the club. An official move, the report claims, is expected to be made in the summer of 2023.
Saliba, who is having a sensational season at Arsenal, apparently has PSG in the ‘corner of his head. The outlet claims that he thinks a move to a top club in France will increase his chances of being a starter for Les Bleus at Euro 2024.
Our View:
It’s no surprise at all that a top club like PSG are considering a move for one of the finest French talents in Europe. Saliba’s contract situation makes him even more attractive to the big clubs.
However, Arsenal just cannot afford to let him go anytime soon.
The 21-year-old, branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Bukayo Saka, has arguably been the best central defender in the entire Premier League this season. He’s one of the biggest reasons why Arsenal are on top of the table, and he is integral to their future.
Saka and Gabriel Martinelli’s contract situations are also of equal importance for Arsenal at the moment, but with PSG lurking, the Gunners may have to accelerate their plans to tie Saliba down to a long-term deal.
