Boom Mykhaylo Mudryk to London Mudryk closed friends confirmed done deal – player now in London to undergo medical
The Mykhaylo Mudryk transfer saga is developing fast as Arsenal look close to losing out on the player to Chelsea.
Fabrizio Romano has been providing timely developments on Saturday.
And if you’re a Gunners fan, they don’t make for great reading.
Just a few hours ago, Arsenal looked to be cruising towards the signing of Mudryk.
Talks seemed to be heading in the right direction, the player clearly wanted an Arsenal move, and all seemed well.
Then, Chelsea reportedly touched down in Poland to discuss a move for the 22-year-old.
And then, Shakhtar apparently accepted a mammoth €100million bid.
And then, worst of all for Arsenal fans, Mudryk reportedly agreed to fly to London to discuss the deal with Chelsea.
What have the Arsenal hierarchy made of the developments?
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners aren’t budging.
Arsenal made a bid of €95million plus add-ons, and aren’t planning to increase it, said the transfer insider.
Meanwhile, Sam Dean of The Telegraph echoed Romano’s sentiments.
He tweeted saying ‘Arsenal were never going to be drawn into a bidding war with Chelsea for Mudryk.
‘They had a valuation in mind and they would not go over it,’ he added.
However, Dean did stress that Arsenal have ‘been taken aback’ by Chelsea’s bid.
Arsenal should quickly pivot towards other players – Our View
While it’s a bitter pill to swallow for Arsenal, fair play to them for sticking to their guns.
A disciplined approach has got the Gunners to where they are now.
Goodness knows there have been many times when a knee-jerk reaction seemed like the right thing.
However, Arsenal are now top of the Premier League table and will fancy their chances in the Europa League too.
If Mudryk joins Chelsea instead, the Gunners will no doubt have a Plan B in the transfer market.
And there are two weeks left of the January window, so they could yet bring in an alternative.
