Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have reportedly made an offer to Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
Sport have reported that Arsenal and Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have offered the 32-year-old Germany international midfielder a two-year contract.
However, according to the Spanish publication, Barcelona have offered the City star a three-year deal.
City, who have won the Premier League title this season, are also keen on keeping Gundogan, while clubs in Saudi Arabia are showing interest in the £165,000-a-week (SalarySport) star as well, according to the report.
Could Arsenal sign Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan?
In our view, Arsenal could struggle to convince Ilkay Gundogan to make the move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window.
We do not think that the German star – described as a “sensational player” by former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher – will leave City for another club in the Premier League this summer.
The Citizens could win the UEFA Champions League this season to go with the Premier League and the FA Cup they have already clinched this campaign.
And there is also interest from Barcelona, who have won the La Liga title this season and are aiming to become a force in the UEFA Champions League again under head coach Xavi.
We believe that if the German does leave City, then he is likely to pick Barcelona over Arsenal.
After all, having succeeded in the Bundesliga and in the Premier League, Gundogan would surely relish the chance to win the La Liga title with Barcelona as well.
