‘Fee is almost agreed’: Arsenal in the final stage to sign £70m star Midfielder – not Moises Caicedo

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly progressing well in their quest to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United.

According to journalist Miguel Delaney this afternoon, Arsenal have almost agreed a fee with West Ham United over the transfer of Declan Rice.

Writing in his Reading the Game newsletter in The Independent (12:04pm, June 9, 2023), the well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Arsenal could soon be able to close a deal for Rice.

The reporter has added that West Ham want the payment for Rice – described as “a diamond and a fabulous player” by former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves on Premier League Productions (29/04/23 at 11:50 am) – to be over two instalments.

Arsenal could soon sign Declan Rice from West Ham United

Delaney wrote: “The greatest moment in West Ham’s modern history has invigorated the club, and also offered some clarity for the future. David Sullivan has confirmed that David Moyes will stay for a year, although that had been the mood for some time.

“It will disappoint a few managers who felt they had a chance at the West Ham United job, and see it as one of the more promising in football given it is an upwardly mobile Premier League job in London.

“Moyes will have to do it without Declan Rice, though. While the manner of the last week really played on the midfielder’s emotions, he knows he should leave for the benefit of his career, but the question is where.

“There has been progress with Arsenal, although they are still some way apart from West Ham United as regards how the purchase is made. A fee is almost agreed, but West Ham want the payment to only be over two instalments.

Exciting for Arsenal fans

In our opinion, Miguel Delaney’s update on the situation of Declan Rice is very encouraging for Arsenal fans.

Delaney is one of the best and most respected journalists out there, and him saying that a fee has almost been agreed is great news for Arsenal fans

Rice is one of the best midfielders out there, and the England international would make the Gunners better and more solid in the middle of the park.

There has already been speculation that Arsenal have made a bid for Rice, and maybe we will soon see the two London clubs come to an agreement.

West Ham have publicly said that Rice will leave this summer.

It is just a matter of whether Arsenal are willing to pay the transfer fee needed to get the deal done.
