Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale’s dad, Nick, has shared his thoughts on Mikel Arteta’s treatment of his son after he was dropped in favour of David Raya.
The goalkeeping situation at Arsenal has made a lot of headlines over the last month or so. Ramsdale was dropped for no reason, and that appears to have irked a lot of fans. However, the Englishman, according to his dad, has no hard feelings towards the guy who has replaced him.
What Aaron Ramsdale told his dad about Arsenal’s David Raya
Aaron Ramsdale has been one of Arsenal’s best players over the last two years, which is why David Raya‘s arrival shocked so many people.
Nobody really expected Arsenal to go in for a new goalkeeper in the summer, but after Matt Turner left for Nottingham Forest, Mikel Arteta turned to Raya.
Despite the Spaniard’s arrival, Ramsdale started each of Arsenal’s first four games and the Gunners were unbeaten then. Everyone expected him to continue in goal, but Arteta surprised us all by swapping his goalkeepers. That led to a ton of criticism flying in the direction of the Gunners boss.
Ramsdale hasn’t played a game in the Premier League since, and his dad, Nick, unsurprisingly, isn’t too happy with his son’s situation. However, the England goalkeeper has not let his disappointment lead to saying negative things about Raya behind the scenes.
Ramsdale’s dad said on The Highbury Squad: “David Raya, Aaron says, he’s a lovely guy and he works hard with him and Aaron’s trying to help him as much as he can to settle in with the squad.
Ramsdale could leave Arsenal
Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale is good enough to be the number one goalkeeper at most clubs in the world.
The Englishman was one of the biggest reasons why Arsenal came so close to winning the Premier League title last season. He saved them on numerous occasions.
Raya is a tremendous goalkeeper in his own right, but he has made quite a few mistakes already, and many Arsenal fans aren’t too happy with Arteta’s decision to stick with him.
It will be interesting to see what will happen in January, but if Ramsdale can’t get back into the side, there’s every chance he will look for a move away from Arsenal.
