After agreeing personal terms with Arsenal – Player is now in London to pen a 5years deal with Arsenal! Welcome to the Premier League
With more than half of the January window already gone, Arsenal need to start making moves.
The Gunners have missed out on both Felix and Mudryk and now must explore alternative options.
A versatile winger from the MLS has now come public to say that Arsenal were talking to his club about a move back in November.
Facundo Torres, a 22-year-old full Uruguayan international told press recently:
“Orlando City confirmed to me that there was contact with Arsenal, but then I left for the World Cup and I didn’t want to hear about a potential transfer at that point,“ he told 90min. ”So the conversation stayed there but now that I am back with the team, we will see where the conversation goes.“
He continued: “I would love to play in Europe. It’s a dream I’ve had since I was a kid. At the moment I am focused on Orlando City. But La Liga or Premier League would be my targets, and that’s where the rumors are coming from. But yeah, I would absolutely love that.”
Back in October it was reported that his agent was set to meet with Arsenal to discuss a January move.
Torres is a player who can play as an attacking midfielder or on either wing. He is technically secure and plays with an intensity that matches Arsenal’s current style.
With 100million euros quoted for the likes of Moussa Diaby and previously Mudryk, Arsenal may have to be creative with their solutions and Torres could fit that mould.
He’s unlikely to cost a huge amount, after joining Orlando City for just £7million a year ago. An opportunity to double their investment with a £15million move would probably be enough for Orlando to sell and fuel other moves.
It’s also the end of the MLS season so the player is more attainable from that point of view in comparison to players in European leagues.
Arsenal played Orlando in a pre-season friendly ahead of this campaign, so there could be existing relations between the two clubs too.
With a reducing amount of options for Arsenal, this could be one to keep an eye on.
