After completing Trossard deal,Arsenal have now hijacked Ligue 1 club’s move for ‘unreal’ player, deal now ‘close’

It looks like Arsenal are on the verge of signing Leandro Trossard from Brighton and Hove Albion, with reports claiming the Belgian is on his way to the Emirates.

The 28-year-old fell out with Roberto De Zerbi at the Amex and it became very clear that he had no future there. He was up for grabs this month, and after Tottenham Hotspur failed with a bid, the Gunners went and agreed a deal to sign him, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano yesterday.

Spurs and Arsenal weren’t the only sides in the race to sign him – Marseille had been trying for weeks.

Arsenal hijacked Marseille’s move for Leandro Trossard

Arsenal know first-hand how frustrating it is to have a long-term target taken off their hands by a club with more money. Mykhaylo Mudryk was their main man, but Chelsea lured him away in the end.

Now, the Gunners have done to Marseille what Chelsea did to them.

A report from L’Equipe, as relayed by GFFN, claimed yesterday that Marseille were in talks with Leandro Trossard and his representatives for weeks. They really wanted to sign him this month.

However, it has been claimed that ‘Arsenal have hijacked the deal’ and the Belgian is now ‘close to engaging’ with Mikel Arteta’s side, who are on top of the Premier League table.

The French outlet also stated that Arsenal’s ‘financial means’ is more than that of Marseille, which is why they found it easy to get a deal done. The Ligue 1 giants lost hope as soon as they heard about the Gunners’ interest.

Our View:

Arsenal’s aim at the moment is to win the Premier League this season.

The Gunners are five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table, having played a game less. They are in an excellent position to go all the way, and Trossarrd’s addition could make a massive difference.

The Belgian, branded as an ‘unreal’ player, can play anywhere across the front three and also as a number 10. He’s Premier League proven and has an amazing record of scoring against the big sides – just ask Liverpool, who know all about him now.

Arsenal take on Manchester United on Sunday and Trossard will be eligible to play if he’s registered with the Premier League by 12:00 pm today. Whether that will happen remains to be seen.
