After INITIAL TALK with the club about the £65.5m Winger – Edu set to welcome him to the Emirates – DONE DEAL!!
Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger has claimed on Twitter that Arsenal have held preliminary talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a potential move for Moussa Diaby, but a summer move is more likely for the 23-year-old.
Diaby has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners since Mykhaylo Mudryk headed elsewhere. Sky journalist Dharmesh Sheth had suggested that Mikel Arteta’s men had made an enquiry for the Frenchman who has scored eight goals so far this season.
Sheth suggested that Leverkusen had yet to respond to Arsenal’s move for Diaby. However, Berger has provided a further update. And it appears that conversations have now been had.
Arsenal move for Diaby more likely in the summer
The reporter suggested that Arsenal are very keen on the youngster. But Leverkusen want a fee starting at £65.5 million. And it appears that a move is much more likely at the end of the season.
It is clearly going to take quite the turnaround if Arsenal are going to sign Diaby in this window. Leverkusen understandably do not want to let him go. And it does not appear that the Gunners are planning to break the bank in this window.
Arsenal have got to being eight points clear at the top of the Premier League with their current options. And if they are lucky with injuries in the remaining months of the season, they should be able to cope without any further signings.
But clearly, that is a real risk. The Gunners have an incredible opportunity this season. And they will be devastated if they throw it away because they did not bring anyone in in January.
Perhaps Arsenal will hope that they can reach a compromise in the coming days.
