“Agent contacted”: Arsenal contact agent to sign £75,000-a-week contract rebel
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have made contact with the agent of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to sign the Serbia international midfielder from Lazio, according to Corriere dello Sport.
ARSENAL LINKED WITH LAZIO AND SERBIA STAR SERGEJ MILINKOVIC-SAVIC
The Italian publication have reported that Arsenal are keen on signing the Serbian, who starred at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal are leading the race for the 27-year-old, who is refusing to sign a new deal.
Milinkovic-Savic’s current contract with Serie A club Lazio runs out in the summer of 2024.
COULD A JANUARY TRANSFER HAPPEN?
In our opinion, Arsenal are unlikely to be able to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio in the January transfer window.
After all, Lazio still have time to convince Milinkovic-Savic to change his stance and put pen to paper on a new deal.
Moreover, Lazio are in the race for the Serie A top four this season.
The Italian club will surely not sell one of their best players in the middle of the campaign.
The 27-year-old midfielder has scored three goals and given seven assists in 14 Serie A matches and has scored two goals in six UEFA Europa League games for Lazio so far this season.
Milinkovic-Savic, who earns £75,000 per week (SalarySport), scored one goal in three 2022 Qatar World Cup matches for Serbia.
