Manchester United exited the FA Cup after losing a penalty shootout to Fulham on Sunday evening.
Ruben Amorim’s side had been pretty poor during normal time, but an excellent goal from Bruno Fernandes got them back into the game after Calvin Bassey had put the away side in the lead just before the break.
The Red Devils improved as the game went into extra time, but they could not find the goal they needed. Misses from Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee in the shootout ultimately led to the home team crashing out of the competition.

Goalkeeper and Defence
GK – Andre Onana – 7/10 – the 28-year-old made several good saves across the 120 minutes from Emile Smith Rowe and Ryan Sessegnon, but he was poor in the penalty shootout.
CB – Matthijs de Ligt – 8/10 – the Dutchman was very strong in possession, making several switches of play to Diago Dalot. He was also committed when going in for tackles.
CB – Harry Maguire – 7/10 – the centre-back didn’t do a lot wrong and he made a crucial intervention to stop Rodrigo Muniz from scoring in the second half.
CB – Leny Yoro – 5/10 – the teenager completely switched off for the opening goal, failing to track Calvin Bassey’s movement.
Midfield
RWB – Noussair Mazraoui – 6/10 – like Yoro, he reacted too late in the box, allowing Bassey to score. He did, however, work tirelessly throughout the match.
CM – Bruno Fernandes – 8/10 – the captain expertly took his goal to equalise in the second half. He was at the heart of all the good things United did.
CM – Manuel Ugarte – 4/10 – the Uruguayan was poor, getting another booking early on before failing to pick up Muniz for the flick-on before Bassey’s opener.
LWB – Diogo Dalot – 5/10 – the 25-year-old did set up Fernandes for United’s goal with a neat cutback but he was pretty ineffective when given the ball on multiple occasions by de Ligt.
Forwards
RW – Joshua Zirkzee – 5/10 – the forward worked his socks off and played one very good pass to Garnacho that could have resulted in a great goal.
However, Zirkzee did not offer much of a threat on goal himself, and he missed the crucial penalty in the shootout.
CF – Rasmus Hojlund – 4/10 – the Dane started the game strongly, but his only real chance came when he snuck in and put the ball wide at the near post from a Christian Eriksen cross. He was replaced midway through the second half by Chido Obi.
LW – Christian Eriksen – 4/10 – Had one decent moment when he crossed to Hojlund but that was about it.
Substitutes
Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10 – the winger was very lively when he replaced Ugarte early in the second half but his finishing is so poor at the moment.
Victor Lindelof – 4/10 – the defender replaced Yoro and looked woefully short of match fitness. He also missed his penalty in the shootout.
Ayden Heaven – 7/10 – looked very assured for a player who was making his debut for the club.
Casemiro – 6/10 – created good chances for Garnacho and Obi with two neat passes.
Chido Obi – 7/10 – caused Bassey a lot more problems than Hojlund, having two half chances before forcing Bernd Leno into a good save. A very promising cameo from the young striker.
