‘Amazing young talent’: Callum Wilson says Arsenal have a 21-year-old prospect who is absolutely brilliant
Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has told TalkSPORT that Arsenal have a prospect in Bukayo Saka who is absolutely brilliant.
The pair have linked up with the England squad ahead of the World Cup in Qatar and Wilson has been very impressed with the 21-year-old.
The Magpies striker received his first call-up from Gareth Soutgate in just over three years last week, just in time for the biggest tournament in football.
Saka wasn’t part of the England set-up the last time he was in the squad, but the Arsenal youngster looks set to play a key role in Southgate’s side over the next month.
And Wilson has praised the ‘new faces’ at the Three Lions camp, including Saka.
Wilson says Saka is brilliant
“There’s a lot of new faces here since I was last here. Jude [Bellingham], [Bukayo] Saka, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, these amazing young talents who haven’t had the opportunity yet and now have got that,” Wilson told TalkSPORT.
“It’s nice to share it with them and we are at different ends of our careers.
“I’m enjoying every minute of it. I just want to get on the training field and get the games started and get amongst it.”
The England squad is packed with brilliant young players and Saka is certainly up there among the best of them.
Of course, Saka is much more than just a prospect now and has been a standout performer at the Emirates over the past two years.
The 21-year-old has already scored five goals and provided six assists in all competitions this season and will be hoping to start in England’s opener against Iran on Monday.
Wilson is likely to play a back-up role to Harry Kane throughout the tournament but he will be hoping to get his chance to impress Southgate.
