Another ‘World-class’ Arsenal player nowhere to be seen in training today, could now miss tomorrow’s clash – huge loss to Arteta as Sevilla threatening to destroy Arsenal tomorrow
Arsenal are currently sweating on the fitness of Gunners captain Martin Odegaard ahead of their Champions League meeting with Sevilla.
The Arsenal skipper missed the weekend’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle after failing to be passed fit following a hip inujry.
Odegaard and hasn’t featured since the 3-1 Carabao Cup loss to West Ham, and had been struggling for a while prior to his absence.
On Tuesday morning, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed that the 24-year-old was a doubt going into Wednesday’s game.
“Gabby (Jesus) won’t be fit, with Martin it is still uncertain, the rest no news so far,” he said, as per football.london.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Arsenal players trained at London Colney, but the Norway international was not seen in the session.
“Arsenal out for training here at Colney. No Odegaard or Nketiah,” Charles Watts wrote on X.
“Partey, Smith Rowe, Jesus and Timber all absent obviously.”
As per football.london, Nketiah is nursing a knock he picked up against Newcastle.
However, it is not believed to be serious, and the Gunners striker may yet feature in the Champions League.
Arsenal welcome Sevilla to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
A win for the Gunners could ensure their progression to the knockout stages, if other results go their way.
Odegaard would be a big miss for Arsenal if he’s not available.
The “world-class” midfielder has been central to Arsenal’s success over the past year and began this season well.
However, Odegaard’s form dropped more recently, which was likely a consequence of the knock he has been carrying.
Chances are we could see a Gunners midfield of Declan Rice, Jorginho and Fabio Vieira if the Norwegian doesn’t play.
