Arsenal and Serie A Giants both “Bent” on recruiting 21M rated Borussia Dortmund
Arsenal and Inter Milan are both interested in Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Swiss international has less than a year left on his contract at the Bundesliga club and it is believed that he will be sold this summer if a team makes an offer between €20m (£17m) and €25m (£21m).
After losing out on Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United, the Gunners are still in the market for a centre-back and Akanji’s availability for a reasonable fee may tempt them into tabling a bid.
However, it is believed that manager Mikel Arteta wants a left-sided player to replace Pablo Mari and, with Akanji being right-footed, it’s unlikely that the 27-year-old is top of the list of targets.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba has also been linked in recent days, and he would certainly fit the profile, but he could cost double what Dortmund are asking for Akanji
