Arsenal determined to bring ‘special’ £55 million star back to the Premier League – Who left premier league last summer
Arsenal are reportedly ‘insistent’ on signing Barcelona winger Raphinha in the January transfer window.
That’s according to a report from Spanish publication Sport who claim that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is desperate to bring the ex-Leeds attacker to The Emirates this month.
The Gunners recently missed out to Chelsea on the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Arteta is clearly keen to make up for the disappointment of losing out on the Ukrainian ace.
It seems as though the Arsenal manager has his heart set on one man in particular…
Arsenal want Raphinha
Sport claim that the Gunners have contacted the Brazilian attacker’s entourage about a January move to north London.
The 26-year-old joined Barcelona from Leeds in the summer of 2022 for around £55 million (Sky Sports). He has struggled to make a huge impact at the Camp Nou, but quite how much they are willing to sell him for this month remains to be seen.
Leeds chief Victor Orta once described Raphinha as a ‘special player’ (Yorkshire Evening Post). And he’s spot on – what a player the 26-year-old is.
The Brazilian winger absolutely lit up the Premier League during his time at Elland Road with numerous performances full of skill, flair and unpredictability. That’s exactly the kind of option that Arteta needs between now and the end of the season, if he is to guide his Arsenal side to the Premier League title.
Raphinha would provide exceptional competition and cover for Bukayo Saka at Arsenal, and he would offer Arteta the opportunity to really mix things up, if his team need a goal.
The Gunners clearly need to sign another talented attacker in the January transfer window. And in my view, Barcelona’s Raphinha would be a very good alternative to Mudryk.
