Arsenal has beaten Spurs to ‘extraordinary’ 23-yo for just £22m, player had now been spotted in London to complete the deal – All paperwork to be signed soon
Arsenal and Tottenham are battling for Serie Nicolo Zaniolo, with Roma looking to shift the 23-year-old attacking midfielder in the January transfer window.
A report emerged from Italy yesterday claiming that Arsenal have initiated contact to sign the Italian. He is also being chased by Tottenham, with Antonio Conte thought to be ‘obsessed’ with his countryman (Tuttomercatoweb).
Sport Italia claim that Roma could be looking to cash in on Zaniolo now for just €25 million (£22million), excluding bonuses.
The AS Roma star is a sensational talent. Jose Mourinho is apparently only trying so hard to move him on because he is out of contract in the Italian capital in the summer of 2024. And he obviously doesn’t want to risk losing him for absolutely nothing in 18 month’s time.
Arteta really should be going all out to win the race for Zaniolo’s signature – he would be a great addition to his ranks at The Emirates…and beating Tottenham to his signature would make the move that little bit more sweet
ARSENAL AND TOTTENHAM ARE BATTLING FOR NICOLO ZANIOLO
The Roma star is built perfectly for the robust and intense nature of Premier League football. Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Zaniolo is an absolute powerhouse of a man, and has a completely unique build for an attacking midfielder, or number 10 if you will.
The Italy international would provide incredibly strong competition for Martin Odegaard. He would provide a completely different option for Mikel to use in certain games and would offer the Gunners a real aerial threat as well. Italy boss Roberto Mancini once described the 23-year-old as an ‘extraordinary’ player (Goal).
With Conte apparently ‘obsessed with signing the Roma star, Arsenal winning the race for his signature would strike a huge blow to their fiercest rivals. And if it is a straight choice between Arsenal and Tottenham, it’s pretty obvious which club Zaniolo would pick at the moment isn’t it?
The Gunners are flying high at the top of the Premier League table, eight points clear of second placed Manchester City. Meanwhile, Tottenham are in an absolute mess, let’s be frank. Conte hasn’t delivered the success that most Spurs fans thought he would have done by now, and a defeat away at Manchester City tonight will all but put paid to their top four hopes.
Arsenal and Tottenham are battling for Nicolo Zaniolo. And if the Gunners can win the race for the 23-year-old’s signature, it may well end up being the final straw for Conte and the Spurs fans. Magnificent stuff!
