Arsenal is close to buying a world-class midfielder for less than €40 million just to avoid a financial crisis next year – Arteta wants Him to join Because of Tomiyasu injury blow

Arsenal have now made an approach to sign Chelsea target Amar Dedic from Red Bull Salzburg ahead of the January transfer window.

Arsenal spent heavily over the summer, bringing Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz to North London.

That means January spending may be unlikely, even with Mikel Arteta and co pushing for the Premier League title.

Any Arsenal signing would have to be a fairly cheap one and Edu may now look to the Austrian market for a potential addition.

Amar Dedic to Arsenal links
Arsenal have seen both Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu go down with injuries, which hurts because of their versatility.

Both defenders can play all across the back four and Arsenal may be tempted to add another player who offers similar tactical flexibility.

The Sun now report that Arsenal have made an approach to sign Red Bull Salzburg defender Amar Dedic.

It’s stated that Chelsea and Newcastle United are also interested in Dedic, alongside Barcelona and Inter Milan.

We would expect that approach to be towards Dedic’s agents rather than than Red Bull Salzburg, but the Gunners appear to be keen on the 21-year-old ahead of January.

Amar Dedic player profile
Age: 21
Date of birth: 18/08/2002
Position: Right back
Club: Red Bull Salzburg
Former clubs: Liefering, Wolfsburger AC
Nationality: Bosnia and Herzegovina
Second nationality: Austria
Contract: Until June 2027
Where Dedic fits for Arsenal
Dedic’s big selling point is that he can play anywhere in defence.

The Bosnia international is a right back by trade but has played plenty of games at left back and even filled in at centre back too.

Red Bull Salzburg have used the versatility and we can completely understand why it would appeal to Arteta.

Dedic wouldn’t break the bank for Arsenal and would be a versatile performer with real potential to develop at just 21.

Hailed as ‘technically superb’ by Christoph Freund, Dedic makes sense as an Arsenal target and especially in January, with the Gunners seeking smart and sensible additions.
