Ian Wright says Chelsea should’ve signed £18m player from Arsenal last summer
Chelsea are second in the Premier League right now, and things couldn’t be going much better for the Blues.
Indeed, Enzo Maresca has completely revitalised this Chelsea team, and whether Maresca wants to admit it or not, Chelsea are title contenders.
However, there is still one glaring problem in this team – the goalkeeper.
Robert Sanchez has been seriously criticised for his performances this season, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has urged the Blues to buy a new goalkeeper.
Wright says that Chelsea need a new number one, claiming that Aaron Ramsdale would’ve been a perfect signing for the west London club in the summer.

Wright spoke about Chelsea’s goalkeeping problems, stating that Ramsdale would’ve been the perfect signing.
Ramsdale joined Southampton for £18m from Arsenal last summer, but, for some reason, Chelsea didn’t go for the England international.
“I think if Chelsea can get a goalkeeper, a top goalkeeper, I think Ramsdale would’ve been perfect for them, but hey, and they need that Thiago Silva, experienced centre-half, they’re in this fight without a doubt,” Wright said.
Who could Chelsea sign?
The Ramsdale ship has sailed at Chelsea, but there are still a number of other goalkeepers that Chelsea could perhaps target.
Chelsea were linked with Stefan Ortega from Manchester City over the summer, and that’s a move that could make a lot of sense.
However, perhaps the most obvious move on this front would be to go and get Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher.
Kelleher has been brilliant in recent weeks, and the Irishman could soon be available for transfer.
Kelleher isn’t happy with his situation at Liverpool, and with Giorgi Mamardashvili set to arrive next summer, his role at Chelsea will only worsen in the coming months.
Chelsea could offer Kelleher first-team football for a team challenging at the top of the table, and this is a move that could well make sense for all parties.
