Arsenal could now sign Tottenham target Tammy Abraham in 2023 after he was booed by his own fans at Roma.
That is according to Calciomercato, who believe the Gunners admire the England international, and the striker himself would be open to returning to the Premier League.
ARSENAL WANT TOTTENHAM TARGET
Well, it was a separate report from Calciomercato in Italy which revealed that Spurs are keen to bring Abraham back to London.
The 25-year-old left Chelsea for Roma in August 2021 after José Mourinho signed him in a £34m deal from the Blues, and despite a stunning campaign last term, things have turned sour this season.
27 goals and a UEFA Conference League win for Abraham last term has been followed by just four goals in 20 appearances for the Roma No.9 this season, leading to boos from the Stadio Olimpico faithful.
Mourinho even criticised Abraham’s displays in a post-match interview with DAZN.
Now, Arsenal could offer him an escape route from Rome in 2023.
Calciomercato believe Mikel Arteta wants the London-born striker at the Emirates Stadium, although there is a huge stumbling block.
The Daily Mail believe Roma will demand £100m for Abraham, who still has four years remaining on his contract.
CHELSEA COULD RUIN ARSENAL & TOTTENHAM HOPES
Interestingly, Chelsea negotiated a £67m buyback clause when selling Abraham to Roma, which the Daily Mail state becomes active in the summer of 2023.
Therefore, if Arsenal and Tottenham begin bidding for the striker at the end of the season, their hopes of signing him could be thwarted if Graham Potter decides to make a move.
Having said that, Abraham himself has to agree to the move regardless of Chelsea having a buyback clause, so if Arsenal and Tottenham make attractive pitches to the forward, they could have a chance.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as an exit from Roma seems very likely in 2023 unless Abraham turns things around under Mourinho.
