Arsenal Player unlikely to feature in league opener
Yahoo Japan report that Takehiro Tomiyasu is currently out of action due to mild muscular pain, and there is a worry he won’t return in time for the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace in just two weeks.
Mikel Arteta also recently confirmed that Tomiyasu has a “muscular niggle”, and we’ve already seen how the defender’s injuries can drag on.
Tomiyasu missed out on a lot last season, featuring only in Arsenal’s 22 of 35 Premier League games after signing.
The final injury of the season came in the first half of Arsenal’s trip to Newcastle United, then Tomiyasu sidelinedagainst Everton and then missed the opening game of Japan’s international break.
It was a positive sign at the end of that break, when the 23-year-old was featured against Tunisia.
But either he has taken a step backsince then or the introduction was premature inthe first place, because a month later he is still injured.
With little time left in pre-season and Hector Bellerin looking to moving on to a new team , it looks like Cedric Soares or Ben White will start at right-back against Palace which is the league opener on Friday, August 5.
