Arsenal said to have made offer, player ‘one step away’ from PL – Agent in London to negotiate sale
On Wednesday, Corriere dello Sport stated Arsenal are one of Weston McKennie’s suitors in the Premier League.
It was also suggested the Juventus player would favour a move to the north London club in the winter market.
Corriere dello Sport’s claim is further backed up by La Repubblica, who then provide more information on this case.
The midfielder’s departure from the Serie A side is getting closer. He is ‘one step away from the Premier League’, where there is a ‘head-to-head’ battle between the Gunners and Leeds United for his signature.
With Mikel Arteta’s side and the Whites in the running to sign the 24-year-old, his agent has been in London for about a week to negotiate his sale.
Arsenal courting the ex-Schalke man has pleased him. A move to the Emirates will see him be part of their ambitious project and compete for the title this season.
The report states the Gunners’ offer is close to €30m and this would see Juve collect a ‘very interesting amount’ for the American.
Leeds are also in the mix and the American isn’t against the idea of joining them. There have been multiple claims discussing their firm interest in McKennie in the last few hours.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal have a genuine interest in the player or are they being dragged into the mix to put pressure on another Premier League side to quickly wrap up the deal.
