Arsenal star backed to agree new deal as Source reveals £52m offer today
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Gunners forward Bukayo Saka to sign a new contract at Arsenal and reject a move to Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Saka will be happy at Arsenal and will know his game time may be limited at Man City.
The 21-year-old has evolved into Arsenal’s main attacking threat but his long-term future is up in the air with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2024.
Sources told Football Insider last month (18 November) that the club have told key commercial partners that he is ready to sign a new deal.
The latest from an Arsenal source today is that the new contract will be worth around £52million in total and a full agreement will be reached soon.
It was reported last week (15 December) that Man City want to sign Saka and are closely monitoring his negotiations over a new deal.
“I think he will be happy with the club he’s at,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“It’s his club, he’s still young and they’re at the top of the league.
“He will look at Man City and think ‘I won’t start’. They’ve got Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez.
“He might look at it and think ‘I might not be a guaranteed starter’ but at Arsenal, he is.
“I think it’s a no-brainer, he signs a new contract at Arsenal.”
Saka has scored 28 goals and provided 35 assists in 151 games across all competitions for Arsenal.
The England star also found the net three times in four World Cup games before his side were knocked out at the quarter-final stage.
