Arsenal started negotiation with No.9 La Liga centre-forward

Memphis Depay is the subject of interest from Arsenal over a possible move in the summer transfer window. Barcelona will look to recoup €15m from the sale of the Netherlands international, who does not feature in Xavi Hernandez’s plans.

The 28-year-old centre-forward is in a spot of bother ahead of his second campaign with the Blaugrana. The Dutch centre-forward had ended his debut season with the Catalan giants as their top scorer for 2021/22, finding the back of the net 13 times in 38 matches across all tournaments despite blowing hot and cold for more than half the term.

But with the Catalan giants investing heavily in the attacking unit this year, the Dutchman has fallen down the pecking order. Barcelona have secured the services of Ferran Torres, Aubameyang, Raphinha, and Lewandowski in 2021. The former Lyon centre-forward is closer to the bottom of the priority list of options at Xavi’s disposal.

Depay has been reluctant to leave the Blaugrana in the summer transfer window, insisting he wants to stay in Barcelona beyond the summer transfer window. But with the Blaugrana set to cash in on him for nearly €15m, Memphis might have no choice but to depart. And the Gunners could offer him a way out of Barcelona.

Arsenal are weighing up submitting a bid worth €15m to secure the services of the Memphis Depay. And an offer from the London giants could soon arrive as the Blaugrana look to balance their books and get bloated salaries off their books while registering new footballers.
