Arsenal started negotiations with €20m-rated Serie A midfielder

Arsenal have reignited their interest in Arthur Melo and have reopened negotiations with Juventus for the footballer. The 25-year-old midfielder is reportedly free to leave the London giants, and Arsenal could turn back their attention after failing to add the midfielder in winter.

The Gunners’ search for a new midfielder continues as the Spanish coach juggles between the many choices in front of him. Brazil international’s name is not new for Mikel Arteta, having been interested in signing the midfielder in January.

Juventus could not agree to Arsenal’s loan terms back in winter as they wanted a longer deal for Arthur. There was a reluctance to reach an agreement and Melo remained in Juventus for the rest of the campaign. The Bianconeri are now attempting to offload the Brazilian midfielder, with many teams reportedly keen.

Having signed Pogba on a free transfer from Man United, Allegri seemingly has plenty of midfield options heading into the next campaign. They want to sell the Brazilian and teammate Rabiot in this window. Arsenal are linked with Youri Tielemans, although they have not made a concrete offer to Leicester City yet.

Lyon playmaker Lucas Paqueta is also of interest, but his colossal asking price could complicate a chase. Hence, the Gunners could have turned their attention to the South American midfielder, considering he could be a cheaper alternative. The fact that Arsenal need a new midfielder is seeing them linked with footballers from many leagues.
