Arsenal want to sign 21-year-old likened to Kaka, Arteta thinks he has ‘frightening potential’ – journalist
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk in recent months.
The Gunners reportedly had sights on the Ukraine international during the summer.
However, according to The Express, Edu baulked at his valuation.
Mudryk stayed put at Shakhtar, but he kept speculation alive just days after the transfer window shut.
He told CBS Sports: “Yes, I think every guy dreams about playing in the Premier League.
“Arsenal is a very good team, very good coach. I like the way they play.
“Yes, from my side, I can’t say no, but a transfer is not only my decision.”
Since then, Mudryk has gone from strength to strength, getting more and more admiring glances his way.
This season, the 21-year-old has registered an impressive seven goals and seven assists from 13 outings.
Better still, three goals and two assists have come in the Champions League, showing he can play at the highest level.
Shakhtar were eliminated from the Champions League, but CBS journalist Ben Jacobs believes this won’t mean a cut-price sale.
Jacobs also claimed that Mikel Arteta sees Mudryk as having “frightening potential” and believes he can turn him into a more versatile winger.

Arsenal would be getting themselves a top talent in Mudryk in January if they succeed in landing him.
The versatile attacker has been nicknamed the “Ukrainian Neymar” for his exciting style of play.
He has also been likened to Brazil and AC Milan icon Kaka.
Shakhtar themselves have described Mudryk as “unstoppable” on their Twitter channel.
Meanwhile, Foot The Ball published an in-depth scouting article on Mudryk earlier this summer.
“The 21-year-old is a skilled player that can play anywhere across the front line but prefers the left-wing,” they wrote.
“Mudryk is a perfect player for teams that love to play an attacking style of football.
“He can score goals, but his speciality lies in assists. He can find that killer pass that can split open defences.
“In addition, he can also use his skill and pace to get past defenders.”
