Arsenal will try to sign Liverpool target in first part of January, for £8.75m – Play want Emirate move

Italian outlet CMW claim Arsenal will attempt to raid Juventus for midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the first few weeks of January, with his departure from the Italian club an inevitability – given he is out of contract at the end of the season.

Rabiot, 27, has been absolutely pivotal for Juventus in recent weeks. After a woeful start – which saw Juve win only two of their opening seven Serie A matches – Rabiot has been crucial in Juve’s run of seven wins in eight, six on the bounce.

Indeed, the France international was missing for the first four of Juve’s initial seven games. But he has started and finished the next eight. Juve have won seven, keeping seven clean sheets. They have propelled themselves into third.

Given his form, Juventus will be desperate to keep Rabiot. He has scored five goals and laid on two assists from midfield – something he has not normally renowned for. But it has Arsenal keeping tabs, with a new deal unlikely.

The report claims Arsenal will attempt to bring Rabiot to The Emirates in the initial part of January. Just £8.75million is required. Arsenal may find they have competition in Liverpool – with Gazzetta Dello Sport saying the Reds are keen.

ARSENAL WILL ATTEMPT TO RAID JUVENTUS FOR RABIOT IN JANUARY

One of the areas Mikel Arteta will have identified that requires improvement at Arsenal is the lack of proper strength in depth in midfield. Thomas Partey has been sensational. Martin Odegaard, is the captain and scoring goals.

While Granit Xhaka continues to strengthen his relationship with fans – something that many thought would never happen. He has even been compared to Kevin De Bruyne for his goals and assists. But they lack proper midfield cover.

Albert Sambi Lokonga is not good enough, Fabio Vieira is more of a replacement for Fabio Vieira. Mo Elneny is a drop off. So, signing Rabiot who like Xhaka, could probably play in all three midfield roles for a small fee, is an ideal signing.
