Arsenal willing to sell their 24-year-old for £50m this summer, talks opened – report
Italian giants Juventus want to sign Brazilian central defender Gabriel Magalhaes from Arsenal this summer.
The Independent report that the Serie A club are keen to sign a new face at the heart of their backline to replace Matthijs de Ligt.
The Dutchman looks bound for Bayern Munich and Juve target Kalidou Koulibaly will not be the man to replace him because he is off to Chelsea.
The report also says that Arsenal are willing to do business at the right price, and want the bidding to start at around £50 million.
Juventus want Gabriel
Juventus think they have a good relationship with Arsenal and hope that will grease the wheels of a deal in negotiations.
Of course, that will only go so far and Arsenal will need Juve to stump up the cash to even get them to the table to talk about losing Gabriel.
The report also says that Gabriel would be open to the move, but it was reported in May that he is happy in north London and will not force a move.
A player-plus-cash deal could be an option, with Adrien Rabiot a name mentioned in negotiations.
It has been reported that the Frenchman is open to a move to England this summer.
Arsenal seem to have settled on a central defensive duo in Gabriel and Ben White which has a nice balance, Premier League experience and should keep on getting better.
Is it worth breaking that up for the sake of £50 million? Perhaps Lisandro Martinez could replace Gabriel, but there would not be much difference in the fees, and the Argentine looks more likely to join Manchester United anyway now.
It remains to be seen how this one plays out, and the Italians can of course offer Champions League football next season, unlike Arsenal.
