Arteta keeps calling up 17-year-old Arsenal youngster to senior training, he could feature on Thursday

Mikel Arteta keeps calling up Arsenal youngster Reuell Walters to senior training, with Football.London reporting that he could feature on Thursday.

The Gunners are coming off the back of a massive win over bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Arsenal continue their Europa League campaign with another game at the Emirates against Norwegian outfit FK Bodo/Glimt on Thursday evening.

With games coming thick and fast over the next six weeks before the World Cup, Arteta will be looking to rotate his squad as much as possible. And 17-year-old talent Walters could be in line to make his Arsenal first-team debut.

Arteta keeps calling up Walters to training

Football.London reports that Walters ‘turned plenty of heads’ during pre-season games with Arsenal.

But the right-back suffered an injury which ruled him out of the Gunners’ tour of the United States. Now Walters is back to full fitness and has been training regularly with Arteta’s squad.

The Arsenal academy product is not currently listed in Arteta’s Europa League squad list. But Football.London notes that Arsenal can add Walters to the B list as he is only 17-years-old.

And with Cedric Soares sidelined, Walters could get an opportunity to impress Arteta on Thursday evening.

Arteta has already handed a surprise debut to Ethan Nwaneri this season as the Arsenal starlet became the youngest ever Premier League player.

The Spaniard has shown he is more than willing to give younger players an opportunity and Arsenal currently have the youngest squad in the Premier League.

Walters has clearly made an impression in first-team training and during pre-season matches. The youngster has only made two appearances for Arsenal’s U21 side this season since coming back from injury.

But the defender is clearly a player with a big future ahead of him and he will be hoping to get an opportunity in the upcoming Europa League games.
