Arteta wants new Arsenal signing after Manchester United beat him to £57m star

The Gunners had another positive transfer window having added the likes of Matt Turner, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus.

Arsenal chose not to bring in another centre back having brought William Saliba back in from his Marseille loan.

Yet with Gabriel Magalhaes a little up and down as the left-sided centre back, Arteta may want to add another option there in January.

ARSENAL WANT EVAN NDICKA

One name mentioned of late is Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.

Il Romanista reported last week that Arsenal fancy signing Ndicka and are fighting Roma for his signature.

The London Evening Standard again mention Ndicka given that he is out of contract at the end of the season.

This all comes back to that left-sided centre back role though with Arteta allegedly seeking to strengthen that area of the pitch either in January or next summer.

It’s stated that Arsenal wanted Lisandro Martinez or Calvin Bassey to fill that role.

Martinez ended up leaving Ajax for Manchester United, and the Dutch giants then spent the money on replacing Martinez with Rangers star Bassey.

Given that both are capable of filling in at left back too, Arsenal fancied the duo but missed out on them.

Ndicka is now coming into focus and Transfermarkt claim that he has played 17 games as a left back compared to 151 at centre back.

Ndicka’s contract situation makes him very appealing, especially as Arsenal would be viewing him as competition for Gabriel.

The Brazilian has largely fared well this term but a couple of rash moments have threatened to dent his start to the campaign.

Arsenal don’t have natural competition for Gabriel just to take him out of the firing line and keep the balance Arteta is seeking.

Ndicka will be much, much cheaper than Bassey or £57m ace Martinez and it’s now over to Edu to strike a deal.
