“Bad luck for the club”- Arsenal gets slammed with double suspension issues ahead of Southampton clash.
Arsenal have been at their best this season, winning nine of their opening ten Premier League games and are currently top of the league.
Key elements to this amazing run include Gabriel Jesus and William Saliba. Both players have distinguished themselves at both ends of the pitch for the Gunners.
The former City man has been a live wire in the attack, while Saliba has been dogged and classy in defence.
Arsenal could lose two key players due to suspension in the Premier League.
William Saliba has joined Gabriel Jesus on four yellow cards ahead of Sunday’s trip to Southampton.
Both players have been pivotal in the Gunners’ record-breaking start to the Premier League season.
Mikel Arteta’s side are four points clear of second-placed Manchester City and were due to face off this Thursday, but the fixture was postponed to accommodate the Gunners’ rearranged Europa League match at home to PSV Eindhoven.
By virtue of the fixture shuffle, Arsenal will spend at least another match day at the top of the log regardless of the outcome.
With that in mind, Arsenal will be top whatever happens at kick-off at St Mary’s this weekend. However, both Saliba and Jesus will be walking a tightrope.
Whether now or later in the season, either of them would miss a game through suspension, especially Saliba who is a defender.
The earlier the better because Arsenal’s next run of fixtures are not so difficult on paper and the North London outfit should be able to cope in their absence when it happens.
