Bid Accepted: Club close to signing Arsenal 22-yr-old for 7-figure fee – Exclusive

Arsenal have accepted a bid in the region of £2million from Burnley for Daniel Ballard, Football Insider understands.

The 22-year-old has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Blackpool and Millwall.

An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that Mikel Arteta has given the green light for Ballard to leave the club this summer.

Burnley have now submitted an offer that has matched the Premier League club’s asking price and they are now free to discuss personal terms.

The Championship outfit are in the market for new centre-backs after losing Ben Mee and James Tarkowski.

Both players have left Turf Moor ahead of the expiration of their contracts next week.

Ballard has just over a year remaining on his contract at the Emirates after the Gunners triggered a two-year extension clause last year.

The 10-times Northern Ireland international is yet to make his debut for Arsenal.

He spend the entirety of the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Millwall, where he made 32 appearances across all competitions.

A product of Arsenal’s academy, Ballard has also enjoyed loan spells at Swindon and Blackpool since turning pro.

He is now set for a permanent move to the Championship.

As revealed by Football Insider (21 June), Burnley are also in advanced talks to sign Man City centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

New Clarets manager Vincent Kompany has made strengthening his defence a priority this summer.
