Arsenal are looking at signing a Premier League veteran.
The North Londoners have just added Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori to their ranks and will now be focused on signing further reinforcements.
Real Soceidad’s Mikel Merino is thought to be a player high up on their transfer shortlist, as is Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
Though, with that said, a fresh link has just emerged.
Arsenal want Martin Dubravka
According to Chronicle Live, Arsenal are interested in signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
The 35-year-old is viewed as Aaron Ramsdale’s replacement if he were to sign this summer, with Southampton and Nottingham Forest keen on landing his signature.
Dubravka is Newcastle’s second-choice shot-stopper but enjoyed a period as their number one for a number of seasons, racking up 152 Premier League appearances during that time.
Clubs in Saudi and Germany have enquired about him, too.
Arsenal need a striker
As well as a goalkeeper, Arsenal also really need to sign a striker this summer, as they’re lacking a real prolific number nine.
Mikel Arteta remained coy in his answer when asked if he will sign a specialist striker this summer, so it remains to be seen if they move for Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, who has been heavily linked.
Brian Brobbey is also thought to be on The Gunners’ radar with Ajax placing a £30m price tag on the Dutch attacker.
Though, Arteta may well decide against bringing in a forward and instead placing his trust in Kai Havertz, who excelled in the number nine role towards the latter stages of last season.
