‘Big doubt’: Charles Watts says ‘exceptional’ Arsenal man is now likely to miss Brentford game this weekend
Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe is now likely to miss the Brentford game this weekend, according to journalist Charles Watts.
The ‘exceptional’ Smith Rowe suffered an injury during the warm-down at Old Trafford in Arsenal’s last Premier League game.
The 22-year-old was brought on as a substitute for Martin Odegaard during the 3-1 loss to Manchester United.
But the player ‘looked distressed’ as he was accompanied back to the dressing room by Mikel Arteta’s assistant Carlos Cuesta.
And now it seems that Smith Rowe could be sidelined for Arsenal’s trip to Brentford on Sunday.
Speaking in his latest YouTube video, Goal.com correspondent Charles Watts shared an update on the latest injury news at Arsenal.
Watts revealed that Thomas Partey is likely to be back this weekend. But it’s bad news regarding Smith Rowe and the other injured Gunners men.
“I don’t think any of the other four are going to be alright [for Everton game]. The four who have missed out,” Watts said.
“Smith Rowe, he’s still very much a big doubt for the game. Cedric, I think we’re looking at after the international break before he’s available, same goes for Reiss Nelson.
“Mohamed Elneny, obviously we are going to have to wait a lot longer for Mohamed Elneny. Probably until the turn of the year until he’s fit.”
Smith Rowe has fallen down the pecking order slightly this season as he is yet to start a game for the Gunners.
Arteta has favoured playing Martin Odegaard in the attacking midfield positions. While his front-three looks set with Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
But the Spaniard will be keen to get Smith Rowe back as soon as possible with a packed schedule coming up.
