BREAKING: Arsenal ‘close to agreeing’ four-year deal with 23 y/o €60m star at the Emirates – new deal set to elapse 2027

Arsenal are keen to wrap up a quick agreement with captain Martin Odegaard over a new and improved contract, sources have told Football Insider.

This site revealed on Tuesday (30 May) that the Gunners have held early talks with the 24-year-old – whose current deal is set to expire in June 2025.

The Londoners want to secure Odegaard’s long-term future amid interest from French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the Norweigan.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Arsenal have no intention of parting with the midfielder and are ready to hand him a bumper new deal.

It is believed the new agreement will see Odegaard’s wages brought in line with top-earning star Bukayo Saka – who signed a new long-term deal worth a reported £195,000-a-week earlier this month.

He currently earns a reported wage of £115,000-a-week on his existing contract.

Saka is not the only high-profile Arsenal star to extend his Emirates Stadium stay in recent months.

Winger Gabriel Martinelli has also recently put pen to paper on a contract running until June 2027.

England international Aaron Ramsdale has also pledged his future to the club with a lucrative new three-year deal – which includes an option for a further 12 months.

Odegaard has proved his importance to Mikel Arteta’s side in his second full season with the Gunners.

He notched 15 goals and eight assists in 37 league appearances, playing a further eight times in cup and European competitions.

The Norway international was given the captain’s armband by Mikel Arteta following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s acrimonious exit last year (2022).

Spearheaded by skipper Odegaard, Arsenal will play Champions League football in the 2023-24 campaign – for the first time since 2017.
