BREAKING: Arsenal in talks to sign Benjamin Sesko
According to reports, Arsenal have made contact with RB Leipzig over the potential loan signing of striker Benjamin Sesko.
It was revealed on Thursday afternoon that Arsenal have made contact with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig over a potential January swoop for star striker Benjamin Sesko.
The Gunners’ interest in Sesko is nothing new, as they were viewed as the frontrunners for the Slovenian’s signature in the summer transfer window – before he ultimately signed a new contract with the German side instead of joining Arsenal, or any of the other interested teams.
But now, as Arsenal desperately search for attacking reinforcements following serious injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, and poor form elsewhere, it has been revealed that talks have commenced – with the Gunners keen to salvage their interest in Sesko.
Sam C, @SamC_reports on X (f0rmerly Twitter), exclusively revealed on Thursday: “Arsenal are in talks with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko. Told Arsenal want a loan with [a] buy option, Leipzig want money upfront or an obligation [to buy included in a loan deal].”
He also continued to reveal that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has already spoken to Sesko numerous times, in a bid to convince the 21-year-old to make the move to London. He said: “Understand Arteta has spoken with Sesko on more than one occasion.”
With eight goals and two assists in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season, the Gunners’ interest in Sesko should come as little surprise.
Also factoring in his three UEFA Champions League goals, it is easy to suggest that the young star could be the answer to Arsenal’s attacking problems.
Following victory in the North London derby on Wednesday, Arteta confirmed: “We are actively looking, let’s see what we get,” to TNT Sports, just days after saying that Arsenal: “Know who we want to sign.”
As their injury crisis grows, and fans demand answers, business in the January transfer window looms increasingly likely, with talks over Sesko only adding to this feeling.
