In their place, Arsenal welcomed four new signings, believing they had offloaded players on the periphery of things with high-calibre replacements, which was always the plan.
That being said, there are still one or two situations to still be resolved, players who are still slightly in limbo.
It’s gone under the radar that Kieran Tierney stayed at the club, who hasn’t previously been in Arteta’s plans, and there’s also Omar Rekik – who was free to leave the club on deadline day.
Arsenal fail to make Omar Rekik announcement despite reports that he’s left
Arsenal were open to selling Rekik on the final day of the window, a move that never happened.
Since then, it’s been reliably reported that Arsenal mutually terminated Rekik’s contract, meaning he’s no longer a player at the club.
Oddly, there’s still been no official communication from Arsenal, who would surely be planning to confirm the news on their end.
And whilst there’s been no announcement on social media nor the club website, Rekik’s name has now disappeared from the official site.
That would therefore suggest that reports are correct regarding ‘excellent’ Rekik no longer having a contract with Arsenal.
