Former Gunners star Gilberto Silva has denied trying to convince Bruno Guimaraes to up sticks from Newcastle to Arsenal

The Gunners had an amazing season last year – but now will start getting to work and trying to sign players that will take the club to another level and really take that Premier League title away from Man City.

After an impressive season in the Premier League – Guimaraes is a player that ARSENAL are very much interested in signing as Mikel Arteta wants to add some more depth to that world class midfield that he has.

And according to reports on the TMW website – people close to the Brazilian star is expecting him to make the move away from Newcastle and join a club that is competing in the Champions League and winning trophies.

Gilberto Silva was recently spotted with Guimaraes and that led to claims in the media that he was trying to convince the midfielder to leave Newcastle and move to the Move to the Emirates, but the Brazilian has responded to those claims.

He told AFTV: “Bruno is a good player he has done so well at Newcastle. I was with him a couple of weeks ago.

“But not for this purpose. Just to let people calm down. He’s very happy in England and very happy at Newcastle and the people love him there.

“He achieved a lot of good things in the club especially the respect of people.

“It’s not so easy now when you come to a new club, they have an an ambition, new owners spend money and they bet on him and support him. This is somebody they wanted to bring.

“But yes, as you know, the market is open!”
