Manchester United have picked up a gritty victory on the road, bating Fulham 1-0 away at Craven Cottage on Sunday night.
Manchester United continue to blow hot and cold under Ruben Amorim and fans wanted to see a positive display at Fulham.
United were unconvincing in a win over Southampton, lost convincingly at home to Brighton and Hove Albion and then didn’t blow anybody away in the win over Rangers.
Amorim was looking for a much better display at Fulham, but this was a predictably tight game against a good side.
United won it though with Lisandro Martinez’s deflected strike looping over Bernd Leno and into the net.
United stood strong to grind the game out, handing Amorim a victory over his compatriot and old friend Marco Silva.
Lisandro Martinez hails Manchester United talent
Even the most ardent of United fans would admit that Martinez’s winner was a little fortunate, but nobody will complain about it.
This was a real grind for United and whilst Martinez scored the only goal, Toby Collyer made a match-winning contribution.
Collyer was thrown on in the second half and was called upon to deny Fulham an equaliser with a superb goal-line clearance.
The 21-year-old has emerged around the United first-team picture this season and this was his fourth Premier League appearance of the campaign.
Collyer’s energy has caught the eye in midfield but that clearance off the line ultimately secured United the win.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the final whistle, Martinez heaped praise on Collyer.
Martinez suggested that Collyer is a ‘big example’ to young players coming through because he is working so hard and is just so humble.
Martinez added that Collyer deserves all the praise coming his way having helped United to an important win.
“I am so happy because of this guy. This guy, honestly, is a big example for the young generation, a big example.
“I’m really happy for him because he his working so hard everyday and he is so humble, so he deserves it all,” he added.

Collyer repsonds to Martinez
Collyer was taken aback by Martinez’s praise, admitting that it was ‘unbelievable’ to hear such words from a World Cup winner.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion talent added that he is just looking to improve his game and thinks the ‘tough’ United environment is ideal.
“It’s unbelievable, it’s coming from a World Cup winner, so I couldn’t ask for anyone better really,” said Collyer.
“Like he said, I’m just working hard. It’s a tough environment and I think that’s good, it makes you better as a player and your character as well. I am just looking to improve everyday and helping the team as much as I can,” he added.
Collyer is still waiting for his first Premier League start but if he can keep making an impact off the bench, that surely won’t be far away.
The youngster is certainly looking to impress with United’s midfield ranks seemingly set for change.
Casemiro is being linked towards Saudi Arabia and Christian Eriksen looks set to leave when his contract ends this summer.
Collyer has been compared to N’Golo Kante and has a real chance to prove himself to Amorim and show that he deserves to step up into a bigger role as 2025 goes on.
