Lisandro Martinez could return from injury for Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace this weekend. The Argentine centre-back missed the recent win over Everton because of a calf issue, with Leny Yoro stepping in to help United secure a third clean sheet from their last six games.
That was the only change to Michael Carrick’s starting XI with Benjamin Sesko on the bench again despite his recent cameos. And the Slovenia international again made an impact as he netted the winner midway through the second half.
He told Sky Sports: “He picked up something during the week. It doesn’t seem too bad at all. We’re working through that at the moment. He’s not available tonight. Leny Yoro has done well, he comes in and we move forward.”
According to The Daily Mail, Martinez has only suffered a minor issue and could be in contention to return against Palace. They have also claimed that it was a problem suffered in training.

Though he could be back in just a few days, Martinez joins Matthijs de Ligt as a defensive injury absentee with the latter having not played for United since late November.
Patrick Dorgu is another recovering from injury while Mason Mount is also unavailable, though Carrick is expecting both the latter and De Ligt back fairly soon.
He said last Friday: “Mason [Mount] is getting closer, we have to be patient with him. We don’t want to rush anything, he is getting closer. De Ligt is working towards it, he is a little bit behind Mason [Mount].”
Concerns over Bryan Mbeumo also arose in the win over Everton when he hobbled off in the 77th minute, but he appeared to be dealing with cramp as he strode onto the pitch at full-time to applaud the away supporters.

Having grabbed three goals and two assists under Carrick, the United interim head coach will be desperate to have the Cameroon international available for the coming weeks.
The Champions League race is therefore set to heat up before the March international break as Aston Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool, vie with United for just three spots.
The latter were the only one team to win over the weekend as they scored late on to beat Nottingham Forest while Chelsea and Villa dropped points to Burnley and Leeds United, respectively.
